When I started running in the early 90s, I must admit, I felt a little self-conscious. I had been told on several occasions that I didn't have a "runner's body" - I was too big. Apparently, the memo went out to all female runners of a certain size, because no matter if I ran in the park, at the track, or on a treadmill at the gym, we all seemed to have the same wardrobe: old t-shirts that looked like mini dresses, and baggy sweatpants. Workout clothes got a little better in the 2000s, but still weren't made for curvy bodies - an XL shirt also meant extra-long arms. Workout clothes simply weren't designed with us in mind. Over the last 2 1/2 decades I've taken up many sports & activities, and to this day, never fail, the bigger women participating (including myself) are usually wearing over-sized t-shirts and ill-fitted pants. Today, there are more athletic clothing options for full-figured women, but oftentimes you have to shop around to find a top and bottom that fit well. It's been 25 years since I started running, and my workout clothing complaints remain the same. Why can't someone make athletic clothing that fits my body? Clothes that function properly no matter what activity I take on. I'm not going to wait another 25 years! It brings me great pleasure to introduce you to Heat Athletic - a clothing line for active women who wear sizes 12-26. This first capsule collection is based on items I've always wanted, but could never find. I hope you love them as much as I do.
